Check Potential Notices compares your return with the Prefill JSON from the Income Tax Department before you file. It shows where your figures differ, so you can fix them first.
Things to Keep in Mind
- The check is optional. It never blocks you from filing.
- A clean result does not guarantee that you will not receive a notice.
- You need your Prefill JSON. Sync it from the IT Department, or upload the file you downloaded from the e-filing portal.
- Quicko compares gross amounts, such as gross salary and sale consideration, not taxable income. A difference is not always an error.
How to Check Potential Notices
1. Click Check Potential Notices at the bottom of the Review screen, next to Proceed to e-file.
2. Click Sync from IT Department to fetch your Prefill JSON. To use a file you already have, click Upload Prefill JSON instead. Quicko then analyses your Prefill JSON.
3. Click a category on Potential Notice, such as Tax Credits, to expand it.
4. Compare Entered by you with As per JSON. The Difference column shows the gap. Click a row to open that section and fix it.
5. Click Refresh to fetch latest prefill JSON and run the check again.
What the Difference column shows
- Match: your return and the Prefill JSON have the same value.
- Mismatch, or an amount: both have a value, and the values differ.
- Missing: only one side has a value. If the Prefill JSON has Income and your return does not, add it to your return. This is the case most likely to lead to a notice. If your return has Tax Credit and the Prefill JSON does not, it also lead to notice.
When you are done, go back to Review and click Proceed to e-file.
