How to Upload your Prefill JSON

How to Upload your Prefill JSON

If you've already downloaded your Prefill JSON from the Income Tax Department (ITD), you can upload it to Quicko to automatically populate your tax return instead of entering your income details manually. If you haven't downloaded it yet, see our guide on How to Download a Prefill JSON from the Income Tax Portal.

Before You Start

Before uploading your file, make sure you have the following:

  • Prefill JSON file: Download it from the ITD e-Filing portal by navigating to e-File → Income Tax Returns → Download Pre-filled Data. Quicko does not generate this file—it only reads the file provided by the ITD.
  • Supported file format: Quicko accepts PDF files only. Files in other formats, such as ZIP or XML, cannot be uploaded.

Upload Your Prefill JSON

  1. Go to Home and click Start Here under Do your own taxes.
  2. On the Let's Get Started screen, select Upload Prefill JSON and click Proceed.
  3. Upload your file by either:
    • Dragging and dropping it into the upload area, or
    • Clicking Browse to select the file from your device.
Note: Quicko uses the uploaded Prefill JSON to automatically populate your tax return. You can review, edit, or update any of the imported information before proceeding to e-file.
