If you have paid more taxes than your actual liability, you are eligible for a tax refund. You can check the status of your refund by entering your PAN (Permanent Account Number) and the applicable Assessment Year using this tool.

Steps to Track Your Refund:

  1. Provide PAN, acknowledgment of the ITR, and your phone number

  2. Review the status of your refund. The possible statuses include:

    Refund is already credited to your bank, please contact your bank.
    The refund has been credited to your bank. Please contact your bank for further details. 
    Refund Not Determined
    The Income Tax Department has not yet processed your refund.
    Refund failure
    This implies that the income tax department has sent a refund to you but your bank details (account number or IFSC code) are incorrect, due to which the refund was not credited/paid.
    Processed with refund due
    The refund has been successfully credited to your bank account.
